Workshop/Service Manager

Experience of working in a commercial vehicle maintenance or HGV rental related business is essential

£40, £50,000.00 DOE


The role would ideally suit someone who is performing similar duties and has worked their way up the ranks from HGV Mechanic to Manager level.

Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 5:30 pm


  • 1 in 4 Saturday mornings 8:00 am to 12:00 pm

Role Overview:


We are looking for highly professional individual with a proven track record of working within a maintenance related role within the commercial vehicle sector.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate an excellent technical knowledge of working with commercial vehicles and managing/controlling key areas such as scheduling, cost control, supplier & customer management to a very high standard and delivering success.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Take inbound calls and be the first point of contact for customer vehicle maintenance requirements
  • Manage legal compliance events for customers including MOT, service inspections and planning
  • Deal with roadside breakdowns and compliance events using extensive thirdparty repair network
  • Schedule and deal with internal workshop/ bodyshop repairs
  • Manage VOR along with updates internally and to customers
  • Process maintenance documentation and ensuring all compliance is up to date
  • Process invoices and PO requests efficiently
  • Provide excellent service levels to all sales, rental and retail customers
  • Chase customer Purchase Orders for any chargeable works
  • Organise breakdown recovery when required
  • Attending customer meetings when needed to support rental service levels
  • Ensuring service levels are met

Experience, attributes & skills required:

  • Experience in the planning and technical aspects of commercial vehicle (HGV) events
  • Ability to build a strong rapport and communicate effectively internally and with customer base
  • Knowledge of supplier authorisation processes
  • Knowledge and understanding of compliance/operator's licence requirements
  • Ability to effectively balance VOR/Costs through effective use of Nationwide suppliers
  • Strong negotiator
  • Strong IT skills
  • High level of enthusiasm for working together in a small team to achieve common goals and SLA

Our client is a leading seller of new and used trucks and also provides truck/lorry mounted crane rental services. They have a network of strategically positioned depots across the UK with their head office based just outside Glasgow
