With the support of the Centre Manager and line management from the Group Operations Manager, the Family Support Worker will offer early intervention to the families of Dingley's Promise Centres by providing direct support, building peer support systems, and signposting to other relevant services that can benefit the whole family, including the child with an additional need.


Working hours:


This role is predominantly term time, for 39 weeks per year, you will be employed to work 9.00am to 3.00pm with a daily unpaid 30 minute break.

During the 13 weeks of non term time, you will be employed to work 11 hours per week.

These are flexible and will be used to cover play schemes run within the Nurseries, or to attend organised events with the families or to work from home.


  • Run regular coffee mornings; parent workshops and social activities for the families in response to families' needs and requests.
  • Provide one to one advice and support to families at the Centre and through home visits
  • Support families when attending appointments with other professionals
  • Collate, maintain and share information with families on other groups and organisations.
  • Ability to maintain client records which track client progress through narrative reporting and filling of spreadsheets.
  • Ability to work in partnership with other professionals and build relationships between different organisations.
  • Approachable and friendly to parents, able to listen to them and accept their feeling, which may include distress, and must be nonjudgemental.
  • Excellent team working skills to ensure cohesion with the rest of the team at the Centre.
  • A good understanding of child development and the needs of the children Dingley work with ability to involve and empower parents, to make them feel they can take control themselves.
  • Support families to understand and successfully take part in the new SEN process including Education, Health and Care plans
  • Support families with finding out more about their rights and entitlements including Disability Living Allowance.

Job Types:
Part-time, Permanent

Part-time hours: 27.5 per week

£14,064.55 per year

Experience:

- social work: 1 year (preferred)

- childcare: 2 years (preferred)


Licence/Certification:

  • Driving Licence and access to a car (preferred)
