Job Purpose:


Credit risk and asset optimisation team is responsible for developing industry leading asset solutions for insurance balance sheet, covering Solvency II capital, rating, structuring, risk management and valuation.

The role holder will be responsible for maintaining the models / tools that support the above capabilities and identifying opportunities to improve model efficiency and enhance control.

In addition, the role holder will also have the opportunity to develop models for new asset classes and enhanced capabilities.


The role holder will join a dynamic and supportive team, consisting of highly skilled technical specialists in their respective area.

It suits someone who has extensive asset modelling experience and has a passion for innovation and delivering results.


Key Accountabilities:

1) Maintain and develop capital/valuation/structuring/rating models for a range of asset classes

2) Develop tools that support business decision making such as stress scenario testing, strategic asset allocation and asset liability management.

3) Provide modelling support for one-off investigation / PRA request

4) Maintain a robust model control framework and high-quality model documentation

5) Support non-modelling activities in the team such as reporting, calibration, preparing presentation material for key committees.


Desired Knowledge / Experience / Skills:

Technical Expertise

  • Solid experience in asset modelling in the context of life insurance industry with proven track record of developing asset models. Practical experience with Matlab is preferred, although experience with other programming language would also be considered.
  • Advanced MS excel skills demonstrating efficient use of spreadsheets and basic data manipulation skills
  • Good understanding of Solvency II regulations


Communication- Can explain complexities in a straightforward and accurate way to audiences of differing levels of understanding, with some coaching or support from senior managers.


  • Good communication skills, demonstrating a clear and articulate standard of written and verbal communication

Relationship Building

  • The ability to develop and maintain strong relationships across wider business, acting with integrity and role modelling the company values at all times.
  • Being able to flex their style and approach to different individuals, with occasional support, in order to achieve a successful outcome.

Taking Initiative

  • Willing and capable of making decisions in order to progress issues, and able to exercise sound judgement and commercial sense to understand the importance of different issues and assess when matters need to be escalated.
  • Able to effectively plan, organise and execute their own work with mínimal supervision, using their sound judgement to spot conflicting priorities and readjust their workload accordingly.
  • Identify opportunities for improving processes and propositions and competently analyse and communicate these to line management.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance / Maths or equivalent disciplines
  • Fellow of Institute of Actuaries (or equivalent) would be an advantage although not essential
