The team you'll be part of


Nokia Bell Labs is the world-renowned research arm of Nokia, having invented many of the foundational technologies that underpin information and communications networks and all digital devices and systems.

This research has produced nine Nobel Prizes, five Turing Awards and numerous other awards.


Nokia Bell Labs Cambridge is looking for a post-doctoral researcher to join the Math & Algorithms Research Group to evaluate, design algorithms for and benchmark a novel, unconventional, computing system.

The post will be available for 2 years in the first instance, with the possibility of extension, dependent on funding, up to a total of 5 years.

This research project will be conducted in collaboration with UC Berkeley, with funding provided partially by the US Government. Nokia Bell Labs Cambridge is a dynamic research community of about 25 scientists researching the future of communications. We are located in the Broers Building on the West Cambridge Campus.


What you will learn and contribute to
Key responsibilities in this position are

  • Exploration of the capability of a type of novel computing hardware in the areas of optimization, communication and machine learning.
  • Investigation of new hardwarespecific algorithms.
  • Development of a benchmarking methodology for the novel computing hardware.
  • Creation of written reports, presentations, and publications about the findings.
  • Participation in, and presentations to a research community working on novel computing techniques.

Your skills and experience

  • Has a Ph.
D. in mathematics, physics, engineering, or computer science.

  • Has programming skills in Python, C, C++, Mathematica.
