    Electrical Design Engineer Job Description:

    Role Overview

    The Electrical Design Engineer will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, reporting to the Electrical Engineering Manager. The key responsibilities include:

    • Managing project-specific design deliverables.
    • Ensuring all designs comply with M&E Design QA Procedures and client standards.
    • Interpreting and implementing client requirements from drawings, specifications, and correspondence.
    • Liasing with clients, subcontractors, and external design teams to ensure compliance with specifications.
    • Conducting site surveys of existing assets.
    • Performing optioneering and feasibility studies.
    • Assisting with tender pricing.
    • Preparing procurement specifications and detailed construction drawings for electrical equipment.
    • Managing third-party designs and supporting installation and commissioning teams.
    • Reviewing vendor control system Functional Design Specifications for compliance.
    • Assessing vendor data and drawings for electrical equipment, including motor control centres, power distribution panels, and field equipment panels.
    • Overseeing design cost management in collaboration with the Project Manager.
    • Conducting and verifying design calculations, including power system modelling (AMTECH).
    • Developing process control philosophies alongside Process Engineers and suppliers.
    • Producing electrical scope documents and works enquiry submissions.
    • Estimating material and labour costs.
    • Carrying out design risk assessments.
    • Preparing detailed electrical specifications.

    Requirements

    To be considered for this role, candidates must have prior experience working on Water/Wastewater projects and hold a relevant degree or equivalent qualification.

    The ideal candidate will have a water industry background and be able to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
