Description

Responsible for over-seeing all activities associated with the Packing Lines ensuring the safe, efficient, and smooth running of the Packing process.


The Production Team Leader is responsible for ensuring their team deliver against team KPI's by providing planning, guidance, and instruction to the team, to include goal setting, decision-making, coaching, developing the team's skills and evaluating progress.

They take the lead on performance initiatives, identifying Continuous Improvement opportunities and supporting other CI initiatives across the business.


Managing their team effectively to deliver high performance, the Production Team Leader will manage their teams in line with Company values and behaviours.

Working 37.5 hours a week. Monday to Friday, 07:00 - 14:30.

Based at our award-winning eco-factory in Peacemarsh, Gillingham.


Role Responsibilities:


  • Work effectively and collaboratively with the Team Leader pier group to direct the Packing team, monitoring progress against the agreed production plan.
  • Ensuring Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards are met consistently, including team Training Records.
  • Collaborates with the Production Manger to seek out efficiency opportunities / reduction in cost (or time) on the production plan ensuring stock levels are protected in the event of abnormal sales.
  • Understands 'availability' company KPI.
  • Collects and verifies all Packing KPI data and updates the notice boards.
  • Reviews KPI data periodically with Production Management to target areas for investigation or improvement.
  • Responsible for all line outputs e.g. finished goods, quality of products, waste levels, correct and complete paperwork etc.
  • Leads the investigation into nonconformance and incidents with the aim to achieve zero nonconformances or incidents.
  • To be a driver of change within the Packing area supporting the Production management team.
  • Ensuring the adherence to the Neal's Yard Remedies quality manual with specific reference to product quality, paperwork standards, sampling, GMP standards and Hygiene levels.
  • To ensure machinery is made available for engineers Planned Preventative Maintenance.
  • Provide motivation, support, and guidance to the team to achieve engagement and meet the standards required by Neal's Yard Remedies.
  • Actively supports pier group to ensure the entire factory is successful. This may include sharing staff, skills, and expertise.
  • Helps protect or build inter departmental relations specifically with immediate neighbours including QC, Warehouse, Manufacturing and Tinctures.
  • Completes Return to Work interviews and first stage informal absence reviews. Escalating any unresolved issues to the Production Manager.
  • Maintain training levels to allow the line(s) to run effectively. Including upskilling in line with the Grading System to a budgeted plan and training any new staff members. Protect skill levels by identifying areas of risk.
  • Drives line performance and looks for Continuous Improvement opportunities and supports other CI initiatives inside and outside the department.
  • Manages staff behaviours in line with NYR behaviour framework.
  • Challenges the Status Quo on all packing tasks, commitments, and responsibilities in the search for improvements.
  • To comply with the requirements of the company Quality Management System and Good Manufacturing Practice as relevant to own role/work area.
