Job Overview:

John Ryan Group, a building and maintenance contractor based in Long Eaton, Nottinghamshire is looking to recruit a Health and Safety Officer.

Established for almost 30 years, the Company has grown through its excellent reputation of high quality workmanship.

Directly employing over 130 tradesmen, the company has over the year acquired further businesses and they offer a wide range of services including:

• Construction and Maintenance
• Bespoke Joinery
• Painting and Decorating
• Fire Prevention Services
• Scaffolding
• Gas Services
• And much more

The sectors we cover include healthcare, education, commercial, public and retail.


Responsibilities:

• Conduct risk assessments and provide solutions to reduce them.
• Set up and implement procedures to identify hazards in the workplace.
• Regular checks to ensure policies and procedures are being followed.
• Develop H&S strategies and procedures.
• Conduct inhouse training and awareness.
• Investigate and accurately record all workplace incidents and accidents.
• Keep up to date with H&S legislation relevant to the Company.
• Produce and distribute bulletins newsletters to ensure all employees have up to date information.
• Ensure all equipment is running correctly and operated safely. Implement procedures for regular checks of said equipment, including equipment maintenance logs.
• Ensure compliant disposal of waste.
• Ensure regular updating of staff handbook.

Essential Qualifications:

• NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
• Full Driving Licence

Desirable experience/qualifications:

• Certified, working towards or substantial previous experience of ISO45001 and ISO900
• Working towards or previous experience of ISO1400
• Experience of MS Office
