Head of Operations


We are working with an ambitious and growing Manufacturing business who are looking for an Head of Operations to take responsibility for the production team which will include purchasing, planning, assembly, quality control, stores and dispatch.

There will be a focus on improving productivity and on time in full (OTIF), so a strong background in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement will be essential.


The Head of Operations will be responsible for leading the team to ensure that production orders are manufactured correctly, costed correctly and delivered on time in accordance with customer build specification and quality requirements.

They will drive continuous improvement within the department, with a focus on eliminating waste, improving quality and reducing cost.


Other critical impact areas for the incoming Head of Operations will include:

  • Leading, coaching, and developing the operations team, ensuring that KPI's are implemented and maintained to align operations and drive productivity levels.
  • Championing Health and Safety for the team and supporting the implementation of SHEQ processes, including maintaining daytoday H&S reporting, focusing on zero accidents whilst promoting near miss recording.
  • Developing and implementing of processes and procedures for all key functions and roles within Operations, implementing Process Improvement initiatives to drive ongoing efficiency and productivity gains.
  • Managing all resources, including team members, third party resources, stock levels and use of space, in accordance with output/demand.
  • Commercially forecasting despatches to ensure output is in line with budget and customers' expectations.
  • Performance management including the planning and implementation of personal objectives, tracking progress to ensure clear steps are taken towards achieving the objectives, using regular performance reviews to evaluate progress, providing training where improvements are required.
  • Overseeing and optimising the operational service levels, ensuring Operations supports the needs of the other teams within the business, delivering a fantastic to meet or exceed customer expectations and contribute positively to the NPS score ensuring it is maximised for the business.
  • Developing and driving mutually agreed strategic development plans.
  • Ensuring effective communication flows within operations and other departments within the business to support performance improvement.
  • Mitigating and solving complex problems in line with the operational needs.


A strong background in lean manufacturing, with the desire and capability to drive positive change and implement processes and KPIs, with the overall goal of improving productivity and driving efficiencies and have experience of effectively utilising an ERP system.

They will demonstrate a natural leadership style, and the ability to motivate, inspire and empower a team.


Job Types:
Full-time, Temporary contract, Fixed term contract


Salary:
£80,000.00-£120,000.00 per year
