An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time permanent Day Surgery Unit - Team Leader at Southend Hospital.


You will work closely in collaboration with Theatre Matron and Theatre Manager to ensure an effective utilisation of resources across all of the specialties.


The quality of patient care and the efficient use of all Day Surgery services is wholly dependent on the effective utilisation of clinical resources.

The Day Surgery Service caters for all adult patients including Trauma and Emergencies. The Day Stay Service also caters for Paediatric patients to facilitate paediatric surgeries.


You will undertake the management of all nurse led areas which at this time includes admission and discharge of the Day Surgery patients & the management of post discharge problems.


You will work alongside the Theatre Matron and Theatre Manager to support the clinical and operational management of day stay theatre service.


Under the direction of Theatre Manager, you will aid in the co-ordination of provision of a high standard, cost effective service for patients, developing collaborative relationships between the multi-professional team and geographical areas, which supports the patient's journey.


You will work under the direction of Theatre Matron and Theatre Manager to ensure that through continuous quality assurance, services are modernised to provide a positive patient experience and improved staff satisfaction.


Under the direction and supervision of Theatre Matron / Theatre Manager, resolve problems for patients, relatives and carers by acting quickly to deal with problems when and where they occur and by working closely with the Patient Advice and Liaison Service.
