This Role


This exciting position ensures customer demand is met by leading both the supply planning and Material Requirement (MRP)/Bill Of Material (BOM) teams, setting direction, developing strategies, and resolving constraints for the replenishment of finished goods.

Additionally, the role must build capability in people and systems to ensure reliable and sustainable supply of finished goods.

Your Unique Contribution


Key Responsibilities Include:
Production Planning Processes

  • Establish planning processes and routines to ensure customer demand is met and the business has sufficient forward view of the supply plan.
  • Establish and direct the activities of employees engaged in production planning.
  • Ensure plans are differentiated based on customer demand, exist at various levels of granularity, and are updated on a rolling basis (rolling 60 months by quarter, rolling 24 months by month, rolling 13 weeks by week).
  • Synchronise supply planning and demand planning processes by working in partnership with the customer services team.
  • Manage weekly and monthly reviews of production plans with relevant stakeholders to ensure constraints are identified and resolved.
  • Provide ongoing reporting and analysis of stock levels, supply constraints, and other KPI's to provide performance insight. Actively resolve constraints and problems, as required.

Packer Contracting:
develop and direct the commercial and operational elements of third-party contracts.

  • Copacker Planning: develop and direct the planning processes for third party copackers ensuring the same standards and principles of operation as the inhouse processes.
  • New Product Development: proactively engage with Packaging Development, ensuring Planning manages NPD, restages, and value engineering changes in a way that ensures excellent customer service, lowest possible inventory writeoff, and mínimal disruption.
Production Scheduling Processes

  • Ensure Chivas Brothers bottling lines are scheduled to deliver customer demand at optimum cost.
  • Establish the scheduling rules and norms that provide excellent (and agreed) customer service levels while optimising inventory, labour, and operational costs.
  • Establish and manage the monthly, weekly and daily processes required for ongoing scheduling of production.
  • Provide direction to the team of Production Planners who schedule the various manufacturing locations (Clyde Factory, Leven Factory, Balloch Factory, Copackers).
  • Ensure all master data in Planning and Scheduling systems is accurate, maintained, and changed through a controlled process when necessary.
  • Ensure the Planning team engages effectively with all stakeholders.
Lead the Planning Function and Build Capability

  • Direct planning activities for positive impact and build the capability of individuals and systems in the planning function.
  • Engage proactively and effectively with key stakeholders across the business to identify opportunities to enhance planning for excellent customer fulfilment at optimal cost.
  • Build a commercially astute and competent planning team through rotation, short term assignments, and training that provides exposure to a range of planning scenarios.
  • Develop a robust and appropriate systems capability in partnership with the IT team to enable effective decision making.
Materials Requirement Planning

  • Ensuring end to end governance of system transactions, set process standards, develop controls, monitors compliance and ensure adherence within all supply chain teams, including suppliers.
  • Responsible for ensuring E1 MRP operates effectively across all supply chain functions to 90 global suppliers, reducing CBL material liability
  • Responsible for optimising the material supply chain to CBL and thirdparty sites to cost effectively improve supplier delivery performance and manufacturing effectiveness.
  • Develop, implement and monitor processes to support supplier, CBL and thirdparty stock accuracy to ensure MRP messaging is accurate.
  • Responsible for implementing consistent processes, procedures, and controls to deliver system stability and reliability, where errors can have significant service, quality, compliance and / or cost business impact.
