Or client is a very well-established, national 3PL operating across multiple FMCG contracts throughout the UK and you will be playing a key role in the strategic, profitable & operational functions of all transport operations, leadership and management.

Youwill be tasked with leading the transport and planning teams including drivers and fleet, route planning etc.

whilst developing, driving & implementing effective and profitable transport strategy, robust operating procedures, and expanding operations as itcontinues to grow.


Key Responsibilities:

  • The safe operation of all secondary distribution activities across Avonmouth Depot, ensuring compliance with H&S legislation & safe systems of work.
  • Management of approximately 40 Fleet operatives, with an immediate management of the duty managers and supporting planning and administration teams.
  • Ensuring that the agreed service levels to the customers is provided
and targets/SLA/MSOP's are achieved.

  • Ensure regular and effective communication methods / mechanisms are developed.
  • Maximise the utilization, agreements and other relevant policies and procedures.
  • Operational decisions involving deployment of employees and resources
to maximise the utilisation of resource.

  • To play a vital role in shaping the culture and approach of the workforce and supporting and developing the team through leading, coaching, and communication.
  • Facilitating a focus on excellence and continuous improvement of operational efficiency and customer service standards.
  • To build positive working environment & culture across all areas of the transport operations.
  • Manage the operations within agreed annual budgets.
  • Develop a unified management team with clear focus on the business requirements of all functions.
  • Negotiate competitive rates for services provided by contractors.
  • Meeting and achieving the legal requirements and industry standards within the operations.
  • Recruiting, training, motivating and developing the teams so that they deliver the required levels of customer service, productivity and costeffectiveness.
  • Manage and develop the Industrial Relations in all aspects, including Disciplinary and Grievance; Company sickness and absence policy; etc.
  • Take responsibility for promoting continuous improvements to ensure productivity targets.

Key Skills:

  • CPC national or International would be preferred.
  • Demonstrated evidence of people development, motivational, communication and team skills.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of multisite operations, UK Distribution legislation and working best practices
  • Exposure to operating within a commercial environment sufficient to develop effective customer service and commercial understanding
  • Strategic Management Awareness.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of Health and Safety and associated regulations
