Description
We are proud to be recruiting on behalf of Devon and Cornwall Police for a Forensic Imaging Examiner.


The principal responsibility is to provide specialist centralised Regional Imaging Hub (film and digital) Laboratory and forensic Imaging services (forensic virtualisation and crime scene reconstruction) to the SW Regional Force (Devon & Cornwall, Avon & Somerset, Wiltshire and Dorset Police).

Duties would Include:

  • Capturing, editing, enhancing, producing and publishing as necessary evidential images taken at or seized from crime scenes.
  • Attending crime scenes to capture images and data for crime scene and incident reconstruction.
  • Upholding a comprehensive maintenance and repair service of specialist camera equipment, and to decide, to advise and purchase appropriate equipment.
  • Producing computergenerated forensic crime scene reconstructions & 360 degree panoramic imagery, into digital formats that can be utilised in investigations, court and multimedia packages.
Skill and Requirements

  • A recognised professional photographic or multimedia qualification (Degree, City and Guilds, HNC or HND etc) and / or proven experience in professional photography / digital imaging and experience in all aspects of monochrome and full colour processing and printing and digital image processing.
  • Award in Education and Training Level this is desirable but can be achieved inhouse.
  • Hold a full UK driving licence or be able to have suitable personal arrangements to be transported to various locations to undertake role as and when required.
  • CAD software
  • Cinema 4D
  • Poser
  • 3D printing and scanning (such as Cura, Leica, Truview and Cyclone)
  • Photogrammetry
  • Medical scan data
  • 360 degree panoramic (such as Pano2VR, PTGUI and Easy Pano)
  • Adobe Creative Cloud (such as Photoshop, After Effects, Bridge, InDesign, Premier Pro and Illustrator).
  • Experience of all camera formats to include both conventional and digital. A good knowledge and understanding of techniques to capture measureable data using techniques and imaging technology.
  • Working knowledge and a good understanding of current legislation and practice guidance for the seizure and processing of negatives as well as digital image evidence. This includes a good working knowledge of ACPO guidelines in relation to seizure of exhibits, scene management and recovery of data, CPIA, Management of Police Information (APP), PACE, Forensic Science Regulators Code of Conduct, ISO 17020 and ISO 17025 Accreditation.
