Are you looking to become a mechanical, electrical, and lifting specialist engineer? Do you want a new, challenging role, where your hard work is rewarded and valued?HSS Hire is the UK's leading tools and equipment hire company and we are looking for an Apprentice Lifting Engineer **to join our team in our HSS Manchester Distribution Centre.


What will you do?


As an Apprentice Lifting Engineer, you'll be trained to service, maintain, and repair our full range of hire equipment whilst working towards obtaining your Level 3 Land Based Engineering Lifting Apprenticeship.

In addition, you will be highly trained in all things lifting, and learn how to carry out inspections to LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998) regulations, on our extensive range of lifting equipment.


Working in one of our HSS CDC locations you will learn the role on the job working alongside our Fitters Engineering teams.

You will learn about engineering materials, mechanical principles, and how health & safety must be applied to the lifting industry, as well as all the technical knowledge that is required to successfully operate as a lifting engineer.


What do you bring?

  • An ambition to learn in the field of mechanical and electrical engineering.
  • A keen interest in lifting equipment, and the specialist industry
  • You'll have a positive attitude, strong problemsolving skills, and excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • You will be proficient with computer systems and have strong numerical skills.
  • Any experience in manual handling is beneficial but not essential.
