In the new post ofCommunications and Campaigns Officer, you'llhelp deliver some of the council's major campaigns, as well as running your own first-class projects and managing a portfolio.


You'll come withgood experience of delivering excellent communications and an understanding of the challenges facing councils and working in a political environment.

And crucially, you'll be creative - understanding how to cut through the noise and get noticed, rather than rely on the same-old tactics.


You'll draw on and collaborate with our specialist internal, digital, creative and engagement teams to create brilliant contentand ensure your work is targeted and tested with the audiences it's designed to reach.


Theaward-winningCommunications and Campaigns team is key to achieving the council's ambitions - telling the story of its priorities,campaigning on behalf of residents and businesses, and supporting the transformation of services for the people who use them.


You'll join a refreshed team recently redesigned to reflect the council's mission and changing priorities - with strategic communications and engagement at the heart of its work.

To plan, lead, deliver and evaluate communications campaigns that support the objectives set out in the council's Strategic Plan, including marketing, media relations and digital communications.

To ensure that communications work is effective, data-driven, targeted and culturally competent.

To offer strategic communications advice to Executive Leads, senior officers and service leads on allocated portfolio areas.


To work with Strategic Campaigns Advisors and services to deliver integrated forward plans, ensuring work and projects are presented to residents, businesses and stakeholders in a coordinated way that is connected to the council's key mission and objectives.

To support the delivery of the wider communications service's objectives, giving advice and support to colleagues on major campaigns.


To contribute content and ideas for council printed publications and digital channels, ensuring that content is tied to council objectives and priorities.


To answer media enquiries that come into the council in a timely fashion, and to effectively use the media to promote the council's services, policies and objectives, in close collaboration with the Media and Public Affairs Manager.
