Job Introduction Do you want to make a real impact? Are you full of fresh ideas and eager to solve problems? The West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) is looking for four Interns to join our Policy and Public Affairs Team this summer


We are looking for creative thinkers with excellent communication skills who are eager to make a difference in our region.

We're the regional government of the West Midlands, working hard to build a fairer, greener, and healthier future for everyone.


You'll support our communications with decision-makers, research topics relevant to our work, support the delivery of key priorities, including the single settlement, and help us advocate for the West Midlands.


Here's what you will do:


  • Dive into research on key policy areas.
  • Support the drafting of responses to consultations.
  • Develop stakeholder engagement plans and help shape our communications.
  • Assist the team with administrative tasks.
  • Help plan and support external meetings and events.
We're a collaborative team who get things done. We expect the same from you and there will be plenty of support and learning opportunities along the way.


About you.

  • You have excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • You are a creative thinker who can present ideas clearly.
  • You thrive in a fastpaced environment and are eager to learn new things.
  • You are motivated, positive, and enjoy working as part of a team.
  • You have a passion for the West Midlands

This 2-month internship (July-August) offers:


  • A chance to make a real difference to people's lives across the West Midlands.
  • Valuable experience in communications, project management, and the world of politics and public affairs.
  • The opportunity to work alongside a passionate and supportive team.
