Background:


Library Services aims to support learning, teaching and research activities of the University through the provision of high quality, responsive services.

The Library Service has attained Customer Service Excellence accreditation.


The purpose of the Information Assistant is to participate in the routine work of Content and Discovery Services which consists of six sub-teams that are focused on the management of content and resources.


Responsibilities:

The Information Assistant will work on ILL requests, order records and digitisations. The postholder will also perform shelf retrieval, updating of loose-leaf works and processing of new stock. Regular Help Desk, remote enquiry monitoring and roving duties are an essential component the role.


Person Specification:

The postholder will be comfortable using a range of technologies including library management systems and office software.

An excellent communicator, you will be able to work equally as well on your own or as an effective member of a team.

You should be adept at planning your daily workload and organising tasks so that deadlines are met.

Strong customer service skills are essential to delivering an excellent student experience when responding to enquiries.
