The ApprenticeSustainability Manager role


Throughout your apprenticeship you will develop an understanding of environmental processes and systems, and their relationship to society and wider construction industry.

This is an exciting, varied role where no two days are the same.

Reporting to theSustainability Manager you will support delivery of our sustainability strategy through:


  • Liaison with project teams and supply chain partners
  • Obtaining and analysing sustainability data
  • Implementing Environmental Management System
  • Delivering against our Client's sustainability objectives.


Your actions will ensure delivery of high standards of environmental protection; support development of company sustainability strategy in line with current and future trends; deliver high-performing sustainable buildings; and drive cultural change.

The Apprenticeship Standard


This is a level 6 apprenticeship, which means that on its completion you will have both 5 years of experience and BSc (Hons) degree and clear pathway to become Chartered Environmentalist with IEMA.

Environmental practitioner (Degree) / Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education

Your profile
At Sir Robert McAlpine typically, we look for the below:

  • Have a passion for problem solving
  • Be interested in construction, engineering and the latest technology
  • Work experience (desirable
The Apprenticeship course entry requirements are as follows;
UCAS tariff points: 96 to 120


A-level

  • 96 to 120 UCAS tariff points from at least two Alevels. A Level or equivalent 2 A-Levels e.g. Geography, Sciences, Geology or Maths (Grade A*C) Essential
  • General studies and Native language at both A-Level and AS levels are not accepted in the tariff.

BTEC level

  • BTEC or equivalent Science or Engineering related (Grade DMM) Essential

Also required:


  • 5 GCSEs or equivalent including English Language and Maths (Grade 94 or A* C) Essential
  • Working in the industry in a relevant job role.
  • Meeting all the requirements of the Education and Skills Funding Agency to undertake an apprenticeship as listed in the Apprenticeship Funding Rules.
