Job Title:
Unit Operator (L2 & L3)2.
Purpose:
To ensure the completion of loops works to client specifications and conduct works in accordance with policies and procedures to meet client specifications.
Scope:
To conduct works under the direction of the Squad Leader and ensure the safe and correct usage of Plant which includes:
- Ability to interpret work instructions, drawings and set up site as per job pack specifications
- Daily Maintenance checks of plant/equipment
- TM competence on all 30mph and 40mph roads
- Safe and correct use of Fire Hydrant, Road saw, Vehicle Tail Lift, Tar Boiler and Temp Probe.
- Safe and correct handling and use of tar, epoxy resins, propane gas and loop cable.
- Safe and correct installation of Cable in Slot, Twisted Tails, Street Furniture/Cabinets.
- Safe and correct identification of Loop Tails.
- Safe and correct demonstration of installing cable into slots, placing resin material into slots and backfilling.
- Safe and correct installation of ducting to specification, termination, jointing and testing of loops.
- Installation to MCH1540, SCOOT, MOVA, XYZ loops to specification
- Knowledge of requirements and accurate use of test equipment and recording results
- Accurately record and completed all required site documentation
- General site maintenance and cleanliness
- Any other duties as required.
Key Deliverables:
- To follow NRASWA, MCH/MCX rules and ensuring timely completion of job.
- Complete all relevant paperwork duly authorised and signed.
- Complete Job Pack and returned to the office.
Principle Accountabilities:
- Accountable to the Supervisor/ Contracts Manager and to conduct works in a safe, diligent manner.
- Wear personal protective equipment.
- Inspect and as appropriate fuel equipment preworks.
- Report any equipment defects.
- Report any personal injuries.
- Conduct operations in accordance with Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
- Health & Safety Awareness
- Ability to undertake manual handling tasks
- Good Communication and ability to follow instructions given from management
- Demonstrate leadership and instruct and supervise others/squad
Key Working Relationships:
The Job Holder will:
- Work closely with Supervisors and Managers.
- Build and maintain relationships with team members.
Key Skills/Experience Requirements:
The Job Holder will/may have:
- Groundworks experience.
- General Civil Engineering.
Qualification Requirements:
- ECS card
- 104 manual handling
- 202 or NRSWA unit 1 cable avoid cat
- 204 power tools awareness hand tools
DNO/G39 awareness
- CSCS card
- NRSWA street works card operator
- Emergency First Aid
- Construct site safety supervisor certificate (SSSTS)
- Level 2 highways electrical systems (QCF) Lantra awards
- Access to cabinets through ducts sc04 or 5b
Personal Attributes:

£16.00-£19.00 per hour
