R&D Chemist - Speciality Chemicals - Cheshire
We have an exciting oppurtiunity to join a leading speciality chemical compny. The company manufactures and distributes biocides, flame retardants, personal care ingredients and other speciality chemiclas. They are looking for an experienced R&D Chemistto join their team


PURPOSE OF JOB

  • Ensure methods, procedures, training matrices & risk assessments are up to date as needed.
  • To maintain all area Risk & COSHH Assessments and Workplace Inspections in good order
  • To maintain contact with the Technical Manager Chemistry with regular updates on significant actions arising from principal responsibilities.
  • Ensure that the laboratory equipment is fit for purpose and comply with the required standards/methods.
  • Ensure effective communication with team members to achieve appropriate levels of understanding of, and commitment to, appropriate business objectives.
  • Recommend / Implement new programs, tests, methods, instrumentation, and procedures by investigating alternatives; preparing proposals; developing and performing parallel testing;
  • To participate in Technical Meetings / Forums to facilitate any technical progress needed
  • To participate in annual budget discussions and ensure the yearly spending in in line with forecast.
  • To be a key stakeholder in the process development of IodopropynylButylcarbamate (IPBC) by ensuring productions processes are technically sound and efficient.
  • To undertake all process laboratory reactions and studies which support the development of IPBC Production.
  • To be of support to Production and Engineering Teams to provide technical and reaction chemistry information for successful running, maintenance, and or commissioning works and projects.
  • To undertake Trend Analysis for All Key Product Groups including IPBC, and PBC Intermediate.
  • To ensure all such IPBC reaction studies and laboratory work is carried out in a safe and efficient manner.
  • To be a key stakeholder in Production Trials to optimise cost, quality, yield, and output.
  • To be a key stakeholder in development of the Risk Assessment Process for Laboratory or Production Processes and the subsequent training to other staff
  • To be the process development lead for additional such projects the company wishes to start
  • To perform specific duties and responsibilities detailed in the current company policy statements and procedures, with particular emphasis on those relating to Quality, Environment, Safety and Health.
  • To ensure that safe working practices with due regard to current health, safety and environmental legislation and current Company requirements are adhered to and always maintained during your employment.
  • REQUIREMENTS_
  • Indepth technical knowledge of testing activities and standards within the Chemical industry.
  • Able to adopt a flexible approach to work and react effectively to a rapidly changing environment.
  • Working knowledge of effective people management techniques, e.g., performance management, team working etc.
  • Understanding and knowledge of H&S procedures such as risk assessments, chemical handling, and confined space entry, etc.
  • BSc Minimum or equivalent degree qualification Chemistry Sciences
