Our client is a truly international law firm with offices in all the major business location across the globe.

The firm in question are now looking to hire a Tax Adviser.

The role will be sat in the in-house Tax team and the key overall responsibility is to play an important part in maintaining the excellent reputation that the UK Tax Team has built up within itspartner client base.


Responsibilities

  • The key overall responsibility is to play an important part in maintaining the excellent reputation that the UK Tax Team has built up within its partner client base

This will involve:

  • Preparing UK tax returns for a portfolio of partners based in both the UK and overseas. These returns will be reviewed by either the Head of UK Tax or one of the Managers in the team.
  • Preparing calculations to show the split of partners' tax liabilities between that relating to partnership income and that relating to personal income.
  • Preparing UK tax returns for a portfolio of spouses, retired partners, and consultants.
  • Preparing lettings statements, both on the cash and accruals basis, to form part of the tax returns.
  • Calculating the amount partners can pay in pension contributions and advising on how the tax relief will be distributed to them by the firm.
  • Dealing with queries from partners regarding their tax affairs on a daily basis, including income tax planning, capital gains tax planning and nonUK resident issues.
  • Answering all correspondence from partners, HMRC and third parties.
  • Supporting managers/or conducting meetings with partners.
  • Working, under supervision, with other subteams on project and other work as required.
  • Playing a part in the "Champions Team" to which the adviser is allocated and being willing to present to the whole of the Tax and Partner Finance Team.
  • Helping the team with all aspects of our work, including administrative issues that arise such as helping with distributions and journal entries, completing spreadsheets and assisting on adhoc work as and when its required.
  • Experience in nonUK resident issues, including advising partners of the UK tax issues on leaving and returning to the UK.
