Are you looking for a new career challenge?


An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part-time, fixed term Band 7 post to provide dietetic clinical leadership for Gastroenterology service within York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.


As a clinical lead you will work closely with dietetic and multi-professional colleagues across the Trust, to ensure high quality dietetic care is provided for all patients.


Not only is this an excellent opportunity to expand your clinical knowledge within gastroenterology, it is a chance to further expand your skills across each of the Four Pillars of Practice.

There will be opportunities to engage in research and to lead clinical transformation and improvement projects, as well as support the learning and development of other dietitians and multi-professional colleagues.

You will join a friendly team of over 30 Dietitians who are currently based across 2 sites. You will be primarily based at York Hospital and will travel to Scarborough and other Trust localities regularly.


You will be part of a supportive senior dietetic leadership team, including other clinical lead Dietitians and a Dietetic Team Manager, as well as Dietetic Professional Lead and Senior Operational Manager.

You will provide clinical leadership for a team that can include; registered dietitians, assistant practitioners and dietetic support workers.

Therefore, excellent team working, and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work autonomously to assess and manage a caseload of patients.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate strong communication and leadership capabilities.

You need to be resilient and able to manage and prioritise your clinical caseload whilst supporting the work and development of the team.


The wider dietetic department provide clinical inpatient and outpatients services to a variety of specialities, including; Stroke/Neurology, Oncology, Renal, Paediatrics and Diabetes.

The department is well established in facilitating the training of dietetic students and staff are involved in delivering a variety of rolling training programmes for other health care professionals across the Trust, relating to nutritional care.

The Trust has also just launched a new multi-professional preceptorship programme for new registrants including dietitians, as we are committed to developing and supporting our workforce from the outset.
