Payroll Controller - Resources - Human ResourcesSalary:
Grade 8 (£37,443 to £39,264)
Fixed Term Contract (9 Months) - 36 hours per week
Hybrid working
We are seeking an experienced, forward thinking, Payroll Controller to work in the payroll team delivering an excellent proactive service.
You will be responsible for administering the Council's Corporate and Pensioners monthly payrolls for all aspects of payroll administration.Working as part of a team fostering a culture of improvement and best practice that inspires staff to give their best in their roles during an exciting time of change within the organisation.
The main purpose of the role includes:
To administer the Council's corporate and pensioners' payrolls on a monthly basis, ensuring remuneration is recorded accurately, and in accordance with HMRC regulations and best practice.
Essential RequirementsThe Payroll Controller will need to have the following knowledge, skills and experience:
Comprehensive working knowledge of current UK payroll legislation (PAYE, National Insurance, Salary Sacrifice).
Processing of statutory payments (SMP, SSP, SPP, ShPL etc.)
Knowledge of AEO, Court Orders and third party deductions.
Working knowledge of pensions automatic enrolment.
Sound knowledge and experience of providing generalist payroll advice at all levels. Attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent customer service skills.
Ability to quickly absorb and interpret complex information.
Ability to work under pressure, maintaining accuracy whist meeting tight deadlines.
Ability to plan and prioritise high volume workload.
Strong administrative and organisation skills.
Appreciation of the need for strict confidentiality.
Ability to work unsupervised as part of a team.
Proficient in MS Office packages.
Flexibility towards business needs.
