Description
To undertake various clerical duties associated with the custody and use of Health Records. This to include all administrative procedures and documentation associated with a patient's admission and/or attendance to the Emergency Services.

It is expected that staff will undertake duties relating to any aspect of service provided by the Health Records Team and at any of the Departments held The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust.


It is expected that staff will be able to demonstrate a significant level of initiative in organising their workload and in taking decisions and action within clearly defined limits.

To ensure patient confidentiality is maintained at all times.

To accurately in-put, up-date and monitor patient related information onto the computerised Patient Administration System and the Emergency Department's MSS System

To provide a front line staff 24 hour patient focused reception service, ensuring that the service is efficient and welcoming, including directing patients/staff/relatives to other departments and dealing with aggressive/abusive patients in a calm and professional manner.3.

To advise patients on whom to contact for medical advice e.g., NHS 111, Dental Helpline and Chemist & Walk in Centres within Wolverhampton e.g.

Phoenix Health Centre
To deal with patient/relative enquires either face to face or by telephone in a professional manner.
To liaise with other departments regarding patient admission/attendance and arrange assistance as required, e.g. arranging for porters to collect patients with wheelchairs or PALS scooter assistance. To arrange transport for patients as required.

To deal with bereaved relatives in a professional and confidential manner.
Informing Triage Nurse of priority patients in a timely, professional and confidential manner.
To accurately file Patient Records within the Emergency Services in a timely manner.

To be responsible for referrals to other departments outside of their opening times and passing on relevant and accurate information to the department in a timely manner.
