We are looking for a Dietitian who is passionate about delivering top-notch nutritional and dietetic care, particularly in the field of mental health Dietetics.

In this position, all referred service users have a mental health diagnosis. Nutrition and Dietetic Services play a crucial role in providing dietary treatment to help prevent and manage physical health conditions and support mental wellness recovery.

The role involves working with inpatient and outpatient clinics, conducting dietetic assessments and reviews both virtually and in-person. Providing care to adult and older adult service users is a key part of the role.

There are also chances to work on National and Specialist units to broaden areas of interest and engage in quality improvement projects or research.

Referrals mainly focus on under-nutrition, re-feeding syndrome, over-nutrition, and metabolic syndrome related to mental health and psychiatric medications.

Key requirements for this role include:

  • The ability to work independently with individuals and groups, be adaptable, and manage a caseload efficiently.
  • Strong professionalism and communication skills, including using motivational interviewing techniques to facilitate behavioral change.

The team consists of 16 Dietitians and one Dietetic Administrator and is actively growing. We aim to advance dietetic practice in mental health and provide top-tier dietetic care.

Flexible Working:

The role offers flexible working hours, allowing for a better work-life balance. Most of the work is conducted on-site, Monday to Friday, between 7am to 7pm.

Overall Job Purpose and Responsibilities:

  • Provide evidence-based clinical nutrition and dietetics services to service users with primary mental health diagnoses in various settings.
  • Be a key member of the multidisciplinary team, advocating for excellence in nutrition and dietetic care.
  • Support the service by providing nutrition knowledge, dietary advice, and training for staff from different disciplines based on sound and up-to-date evidence.
  • Raise awareness and ensure effective implementation of the trust's nutrition policy.
  • Support the development and use of menus that provide nutrition and hydration within the clinical setting.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop a weight management program for service users in the community.
  • Evaluate and enhance dietetic care pathways to provide outstanding nutrition and dietetic care.

Personal Specification:

Essential Requirements

Qualifications:

  • HCPC Registered Dietitian
  • Relevant Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Strong evidence of continuing professional development
  • Membership of British Dietetic Association (BDA) or equivalent for professional indemnity insurance

Experience:

  • Experience in clinical dietetic practice, especially in nutrition support like refeeding syndrome and use of oral nutritional supplements
