Description

Due to ongoing expansion of our Surgery we are looking to appoint 2 highly motivated Practice Receptionists to join our friendly team.

The role is Monday to Friday with hours to be discussed at interview. We operate a flexible rota working within the hours of 8am and 6.30pm.

The ability to cover - sometimes at short notice - annual/leave and sickness is also an essential requirement of the postholders.

We work across three sites in Bridgend Town Centre, Cefn Glas and Aberkenfig.


This is a patient facing role and you will need to be articulate, work well within a busy team and be patient, efficient and professional with good attention to detail.


JOB SUMMARY


To work as part of the Reception Team to deliver an effective and efficient reception service to the patients of the practice and any other visitors.

To work as part of the wider primary care team to deliver high quality primary care services to the registered population.


JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsibilities:


Main Duties:

  • Greeting patients on arrival, handling enquiries effectively and efficiently.
  • Receiving incoming telephone calls, ensuring appropriate actions, dealing with enquiries and taking messages as required.
  • To make certain appointments that fall outside of our Care Navigation Triage and to cancel or rearrange appointments as required.
  • To complete computer based template for those patients who cannot use the eConsult system and book on to Care Navigation lists to be actioned.
  • To explain practice boundaries, arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover, ensuring all procedures and paperwork is completed to a satisfactory level.
  • To advise patients of relevant charges for non NHS services, accepting payment, recording money received and issuing receipts.
  • Updating patient records both on the clinical system and in hard copy as required following change of name, address, phone numbers, next of kin and with any other relevant details.
  • Booking interpreting services for patients who are hard of hearing or require a language translation services.
  • Being aware of other external services that are offered through the Surgery and knowing how to refer and contact the provider if necessary (ie. Physio).
  • Collecting samples from patients and ensuring they are stored and/or collected in an appropriate manner.
  • Undertaking other tasks as required by Practice Nurses or GPs.
  • Following the procedure for opening and closing of the Surgeries at the start/end of each working day ensuring all areas are safe and secure.
  • Fully utilising the Surgery clinical computerised system to manage appointments, update records and for any other legitimate reason and in line with Practice procedures.
  • To assist other teams and members of staff where required, including providing cover as required at times other than your usual rota and sometimes at short notice.
  • To keep the reception and waiting room areas tidy and to ensure relevant stock is held at reception for all staff to access as required (this includes forms, appointment cards and other similar items).
  • Attending Reception/Admin Team meetings on a regular basis.
  • Any other duties considered appropriate to the role at the absolute discretion of the Reception Supervisor, Practice Manger or Partners.

ABOUT US


We are a large friendly practice who currently work across three sites but will be moving to a new purpose built Health Centre in 2025.


We have 8 Partners, 5 Salaried GPs, 1 Practice Pharmacist, 8 Practice Nurses (including an Advanced Nurse Practitioner), 1 Primary Care Mental Health Nurse, 3 Health Care Assistants and are a training practice.
