Job description:


We are looking to secure an Associate Director DDaT who will be responsible for providing strategic technology leadership to enable us to become fully established as a digitally and data enabled Regulator, using the best of cloud technology.

Who we are looking for?


The role is responsible for working with the Director of DDaT, the team of over 25 professionals, and all of Ofqual to make sure that our technology activity continues to enable regulation and in turn supports and promotes confidence in regulated qualifications among learners and others who rely on them.


It's an exciting time to join our well-established IM team and you will play a key part in providing technical leadership for our cloud-native solutions ensuring we're making the right technology choices to give us resilience and sustainability and to deliver what users need.


We are looking for a leader within the team who will mentor and coach more junior colleagues so our focus on succession planning and talent management remains true.

You will have extensive experience in a cloud technology leadership role, with specialist knowledge of the Microsoft Azure stack and knowledge of modern architecture patterns.


You will be an inspiring leader who leads by example and is able to work in a pressurised environment with ambition and an enthusiasm that motivates those around you to deliver excellent services.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide technical leadership to Ofqual's DDaT and cyber-security solutions and play a central role in assuring our services
  • Advise, consult, and lead in the delivery of cloudnative solutions which realise measurable and obvious business value
  • Lead the architecture, design, implementation, and operation of on premises and cloud technology for the organisation
  • Ensure regulatory and legal compliance of Ofqual's technology estate and operational practices
  • Enrich existing systems, introducing industry best practice along with new and emerging trends to define and lead the continuous improvement of our technology and value delivery strategies
