  • STRATEGIC BUSINESS UNIT DESCRIPTION
  • The Repo Trader role sits within CIBC Capital Markets Global Credit Finance (GCF) group in London meeting our client's financing and leverage needs. The hire will also work closely with the FI Rates team to help cover internal short positions and finance the long bond inventory.

JOB PURPOSE

  • As a GCF repo trader, purpose of the role will be to work with internal sales, clients, street to: cover internal short positions and to finance long positions; to provide financing and leverage/yield enhancement to our clients; to bring liquidity to the firm; optimize the collateral makeup and pricing of the book.
  • The role will also play a key part in the growth of GCF as we look to expand our product portfolio.
  • KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Short covering and financing of SSA assets via repo/reverse repo trading.
  • Manage collateral and liquidity of the book.
  • Provide pricing to clients, brokers.
  • Manage overall repo limits and risk.
  • Potential to run a match book.
  • CROSS-FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
  • Work with Fixed Income desk to cover shorts, finance long positions.
  • Work with STIRT to manage interest rate risk.
  • Work with Sales to provide trading levels.
  • Work with Settlements to ensure timely settlement of trades.
  • Work with Risk, Compliance, Legal as and when needed.
  • Build and foster deep client relationships.
  • KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
  • Knowledge of UK and Europe GBP, USD, and EUR SSA and GILT repo/triparty markets.
  • Strong financial markets background.
  • Strong SQL, Python programming skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • University degree.
