Description

The Orthopaedic Therapy Team is looking for a dynamic and forward thinking Rehabilitation Assistant to join our integrated team of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Rehabilitation Assistants.


Our team treat Orthopaedic patients of all ages, who have undergone elective surgery or experienced traumatic injuries to support patients in their recovery.


You will work closely with the therapists to deliver treatment plans in the ward environment and will be involved with assessment of patients at the pre operative stage in the outpatient clinic.


You will need excellent communication skills and must be willing to work as part of a forward thinking and dynamic team.

Appropriate training will be given in order to achieve a set of competencies which are essential for this role.


To work as part of the multidisciplinary team and assist therapists to assess, plan and deliver treatment plans for Orthopaedic patients, of all ages, under the care of Great Western Hospital.

This role also involves administration and clerical duties to assist with the smooth running of the department.

  • To work with all orthopaedic patients, of any age, under the care of GWH. Locations include PAC,
wards and community.

  • To assess patients with routine and non-complex conditions independently according to agreed
guidelines and documentation.

  • To follow identified guidelines and treatment programmes and implement these in collaboration with
the occupational therapist or physiotherapist if required.

  • To be responsible for progressing treatment following regimes or guidelines.
  • To participate in the orthopaedic weekend working scheme.
