Duties:


DUTY 1:

Performs analysis and evaluation of personnel security investigations, security information files or other data containing derogatory or sensitive information impacting on initial or continuing clearance and access eligibility.


DUTY 2:
Resolves a wide variety of complex security clearance problems that require choosing alternative responses
through coordination with unit security managers, at 55 Wing, Air Combat Command (ACC), Air Force Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Agency (AFISRA) in support of Air Force Central Adjudication Facility (AFCAF), Defense Security Service (DSS), and Office of Personnel Management (OPM), higher
headquarters.


DUTY 3:
Implements unit security education and motivation programs.
Advises managers of security training
requirements, changes in security procedures, publication of security directives and enhancements designed to increase security awareness.


DUTY 4:
Administers the Industrial Security Program.
Reviews all contract support documents to ensure they include the appropriate security clauses and language.

  • May be required to pass a counterintelligence polygraph test.
  • May be required to work other than normal duty hours that may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays to include overtime and workload demands. Duty location may be between multiple work centers to facilitate flow.
  • The employee may be required to travel away from the normal duty station on military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).

Qualifications:


  • This is a GG09 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). The GG09 duties for the "Professional" work category are at the "Entry/Developmental" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS09 level. The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job.
  • In order to qualify, you must meet the special experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position.


Examples of creditable experience include:

knowledge of commonly applied security principles, concepts and methods of performing such duties as conducting inspections and investigations, collecting and analyzing information, etc., and skill in weighing the impact of variables such as critical personnel qualifications and other issues that influence the course of actions taken in resolving security questions and issues.

Note: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency.

EDUCATION:
master's or equivalent graduate degree

2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

  • 1. Knowledge of security concepts, principles, and practices to plan and implement security procedures for personnel and industrial security programs within the organization.
  • 2. Knowledge of procedures, forms and information and confidentiality requirements related to sensitive personal information to request security investigations and submit to the appropriate government agency.
  • 3. Skill in developing, analyzing, and evaluating security programs to meet mission requirements and improve the security program for the organization.
  • 4. Knowledge of what constitutes derogatory information, the supporting data required to complete adjudication determinations and understanding of clearance adjudication processes and the information/criteria required.
