As Group Buyer, you will be involved in various categories of indirect purchasing in order to successfully deliver sourcing benefits within an autonomous role remit.


To be successful in this this role, you will have worked in a similar Buyer position with previous experience in the full lifecycle Contract Management.

This is a fast paced role, therefore a strong strategic sourcing and procurement background is essential, you must be Financially aware, commercially minded and able to effectively manage costs.

You will be required to develop expertise within the organisation around specific supply markets, as well as technological and economic changes that impact those markets.

You will create and implement sourcing strategies in line with group procurement objectives.

This role is based at our Cardiff site with hybrid working of 2/3 days as an option.

On occasion you will be required to attend one of our other sites for meetings which could be weekly or monthly, depending on the requirement.

Therefore willingness to travel is essential.

This is what you'll actually do


As the Group Buyer role you'll work closely with the wider group purchasing team along with internal stakeholders and external third parties and continuously seeks to improve and deliver value to the function and the wider business.

You'll ensure the function is perceived as a positive, significant, value adding partner to the business.


You will also be involved in leading the procurement activities of a wide range of contracts, working collaboratively with key internal stakeholders to determine and deliver the Procurement and Supply Chain strategy.

Along with managing suppliers and external stakeholders in the delivery of best value and lowest risk solutions to meet the needs of the business.


As the Group Buyer you'll be responsible for monitoring and reviewing performance to budget, identifying opportunities for greater efficiencies, improved terms and value add activity.

You will develop closer collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders internally and externally to identify and drive continuous improvement activity and support the business long term strategy.


Ideally this is you

  • Experience in a similar Buyer position, ideally with experience of Indirect category management
  • Full Lifecycle Contract Management
  • Monitoring and reviewing performance to budget, identifying opportunities for greater efficiencies, improved terms and value add activity
  • Competency demonstrated by a formal technical qualification combined with good education standards/industry experience and knowledge
  • Demonstrated success in delivering significant cost savings on a year over year basis
  • Developing closer collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders internally and externally to identify and drive continuous improvement activity and support the business long term strategy
  • Financially aware, numerate, commercially minded and able to effectively manage costs
