Job summary:


Primarily the role is concerned with delivering training in the deteriorating patient, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillation (AED) to all grades of staff across all specialties.

In addition the post holder will have responsibilities, in quality assurance, clinical and training equipment provision and maintenance.


Main duties, tasks & skills required:

The Resuscitation Service are looking for a highly motivated individual with recent clinical experience, to join our friendly and dynamic team.

We wish to recruit someone who has a passion for teaching and has a keen interest in resuscitation, patient safety and quality improvement projects.


The successful applicant will be visible to support the resuscitation service, across UHB (Hospitals include: Good Hope, Heartlands, Solihull and the Queen Elizabeth) and occasionally within the community services.

The role will mainly involve teaching and assessing clinical staff at Clinical Life Support level during trust induction and annual updates.


There will be developmental opportunity for the successful applicant to achieve their Immediate Life Support (ILS) provider qualification and support to progress to Resuscitation Council (UK) ILS instructor; If successful at achieving instructor potential nomination.

Person specification:
Qualifications:


Essential:


  • Registered Health Care Practitioner e.g Registered Nurse, Midwife, ODP, Paramedic.

Experience:


Essential:


  • Previous / recent experience of working in an acute NHS care setting (e.g ED, AMU, CCU)
  • Competent in Basic level Life Support (BLS) and use of an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED)
  • Ability to participate with the implementation of change, assist with and improving standards.

Desirable:


  • Involvement in audit
  • Incident reporting and investigations
  • Teaching resuscitation skills
  • Teaching experience

Additional Criteria:


Essential:


  • Work as part of a team but able to work independently when required
  • Good personal time management skills
  • Full driving license as this is a cross site role / Ability to fulfil travel requirements of post
  • Able to manage time effectively to carry out cross site working on a regular basis.
