Our mission
Our mission is to provide enriching day care for people living with dementia and the challenges of older age.

Through meaningful, social days out in a welcoming home setting, we are dedicated to harnessing the therapeutic power of friendship.

We strive to show that life can be joyful and expansive at any stage.

Essential requirements for a Day Care Host
To become a host you must have

  • An accessible home with mínimal steps and a downstairs toilet
  • A 5 door car with 3 full rear seats and seatbelts
  • A full driving licence
  • Availability for up to two full days every week between the hours of 9.00am and 5.00pm

What do we offer you?

  • A daily rate of pay between £100 and £125 plus allowances for lunches and mileage
  • Enrolment in a pension scheme
  • 6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata)
  • Full training and support
  • An enhanced DBS check
  • Access to our host wellbeing program

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for compassionate, empathetic and versatile people who would like to use their home to host a group of 4 older people for up to 2 full days per week.

What will you be doing?

You will typically be active with your group between 9.30am and 4.30pm, starting with collecting your clients from their homes.

You will then develop and lead the day, dependent on the capacities and interests of the members of your group.

You'll need to be creative and adaptable to the changing needs of your group. Examples of group activities include playing games, listening to music, baking or simply enjoying a conversation.

During the day you will also provide a freshly cooked two course lunch for your group. This is an important part of the day.

We don't expect restaurant level food, but for some of your guests this may be the only hot meal they eat in the week, so a reasonable level of home cookery would be great.

We'll give you all the information you need about dietary requirements, likes and dislikes.

Working for The Filo Project is interesting, satisfying and occasionally challenging You will need to be physically and emotionally able to work alone with your group for a full day.

You will be well supported in your role, by your Area Coordinator, our Wellbeing team, and nearby hosts.

About The Filo Project
The Filo Project started in Devon in 2014 and expanded to Somerset in 2020. We now also offer our service in Lancashire and Cornwall.
