First Achieve's Engineering Division have a great opportunity for an experienced professional to manage our client's Supply Chain, in the Edinburgh region. This "Head of Supply Chain" position will see you working within a leading organisation who are specialist manufacturers for the defence industries.
Thisrole exists to provide strategic leadership and management of our client's Supply Chain function and to ensure optimal supplier performance and price

The succesful applicant will be required to transform and evolve the existing function by the creation and development of a Procurement strategy, and the implementation of a supporting plan, which ensures that the function is operating in accordance with the objectives of the business, it continuously adds value, mitigates supply chain risks, delivers cost savings and builds longer term, strategic supplier mutually beneficial business relationships


There will be a need to revitalize the existing function, coach and develop the associated staff members and ultimately get the best out of the team on an ongoing basis, delivering to and providing the required level of service required in accordance with business objectives.


Salary is Negotiable, and we would be keen to discuss expectations as part of our initial discussions.


The Head of Supply Chain role is an all-encompassing position that will be responsible for driving forward a strategic approach to procurement.

The role holder has overall responsibility and accountability for the Supply Chain function which will include leadership of staff, managing the task and budgetary management.

The postholder will be an integral part of the senior management team, reporting into the Commercial Director in support of the Board objectives


skills and experiences we're looking for:

  • MCIPS or CIPS Level
  • A strong track record of leadership, managing high performing, professional team and developing talent in an inclusive environment
  • Extensive experience, preferably in defence or engineering and managing end to end Supply Chain and procurement on complex programmes
  • Proven experience of collaboratively working as part of senior multifunctional delivery team, including Engineering and Project Management/Controls Management with experience of projects change and associated implications & negotiations
  • Successfully working & collaborating in a complex programme environment with many senior Customer, Prime Contractor & supplier stakeholders
  • Successful applicants will need to satisfy UK Ministry of Defence security requirements.
  • To be considered for this role you must be a British Passport holder, or hold British Citizenship.
