About the Digital Product Owner role:

Works collaboratively with Business Owners and technology development teams to curate product backlogs, craft user stories and define acceptance criteria that deliver the business benefit and value of each product and its features.


A key member of internal and external technology project teams working to ensure what is developed meets the required customer and business expectations.


Your responsibilities as our Digital Product Owner will include:

  • Responsible for prioritisation, management and delivery of the 6-month digital product strategy and roadmap for a new feature release
  • Work collaboratively with the Product Manager/Project Manager, business process owners and development and project teams to create user stories that are aligned to the overall delivery of organisational goals and desired customer outcomes
  • Carry out detailed analysis of user needs, business requirements, impact, scope, risks, benefits and technical dependencies for user stories
  • Ensure all user stories are captured, created and maintained in the product backlog, written in the agile user story format, with relevant support documentation and clearly defined acceptance criteria for each story
  • Work collaboratively with the UX team to provide understanding of the user stories to ensure designs are aligned
  • Ensure the product backlog is accurately prioritised through regular discussion and review with the Product Manager/Project Manager and Business Owners, and other key business stakeholders
  • Provide technical input into the business cases that are produced by the Product Manager/Project Manager and Business Owners
  • Be a key contributor in a new programme of work and related optimisation, including A/B testing and personalisation
  • Understand, communicate and drive optimisation of all leading metrics and KPIs across online and offline sales journeys

What we're looking for in our Digital Product Owner:

Essential

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Digital specialist with a proven track record working in ecommerce or digital marketing
  • High level of understanding of web development practices
  • Strong understanding of digital analytics and conversion rate optimisation processes
  • Strong ability to refine and prioritise product backlog in fastmoving environment
  • Proficient at writing user stories and defining acceptance criteria
  • Excellent delivery and execution of sprint rituals and releases
  • Experience of using work management tools such as Jira
  • Able to lead and facilitate meetings (e.g. lead workshops to elicit requirements) within business and technical teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with business and technical stakeholders at all levels
  • Able to produce high quality supporting artefacts to assist the team in development of product features
  • Outstanding team working and collaboration skills
