The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity to work as a Field Service Engineer for a successful and growing Audio Visual company.

The Field Service Engineer is the face of their Technical Support Service Desk and should represent the embodiment of best practice, competent methodical engineering, and great client-facing customer service at all times whilst providing onsite technical supportat their clients' premises across the UK.

You will be working with a small talented and highly qualified team who want to work smartly and have a genuine desire to go that extra mile to support their clients.

You will assist in maintaining a high remote fix rate by assisting with remote troubleshooting or feeding back to the technical support team.

You will maintain a high first visit fix rate, taking smart proactive steps to achieve first visit fixes or workarounds with the support of the technical team.

You will help our client take their Preventative Maintenance proposition to the next level.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Travel to client sites across the UK to meet or exceed clients SLAs and expectations (primarily London and surrounding areas).
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance visits to ensure clients' supported equipment remains in optimum working order and up to date equipment information is documented.
  • Provide detailed reports which are clear and methodical, using existing templates and guidance.
  • Assist technical support specialists with remote troubleshooting as required, including providing remote technical support to clients directly.
  • Work with the technical support desk team to ensure you take smart proactive steps to achieve first visit fixes or workarounds.
  • Take ownership when attending client sites to get incidents progressed and resolved as efficiently as possible, working with the technical support team to address any and all client concerns with a direct focus on customer service excellence.
  • Installation of various equipment and cables is required and may require heavy lifting, working at heights, or working in low or tight spaces on occasion, as is reasonably required.
  • Field installation of equipment configurations including program control code, touch panel code, DSP code, network switch and router configurations, UC and VC end points as required.
  • Field interrogation and reconfiguration of AV, UC, and networking equipment as required.
  • Complete assigned training and certification as required or assigned.
  • Help create and improve support processes and documentation in our client's knowledgebase.
  • Occasionally assist the projects team with installation and snag resolution.
  • Other duties will be assigned as needed.
Based in London or Home Counties, salary will be circa £40k doe plus benefits including

Your skills and experience

  • Competence in all modern AV disciplines.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently without supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent analytical and structured problemsolving skills.
  • Time management skills whilst maintaining an attention to detail.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools in a safe and efficient manner
  • Good computer and networking knowledge.
  • Knowledge of signal flow for audio, video and control.
  • Ability to solder crimp connectors.
  • Ability to debug control programs and make minor alterations to touch panel files.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and make alterations to DSPs including QSC and Biamp.
  • Valid UK Driver;s Licence.

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 45 years of fieldbased audiovisual systems integration experience preferred.
  • A formal education in Electronics or related field preferred.
  • Completion of Crestron Core Technical Tracks preferred.
  • Certification and experience in BIAMP or QSC preferred.
  • Experience in debugging Crestron code preferred.
  • Experience and Certifications in Shure Microflex, Advance range beneficial.
  • Experience with Crestron Flex and NVX beneficial.
  • Experience with Microsoft Teams Rooms (MTRs) Essential
  • CTS beneficial.
  • CompTIA A+/N+, CCNA, MCSA/E or equivalents highly desirable.
