If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant in Walker, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne.
As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in assisting students with special educational needs, helping them overcome challenges and achieve their educational goals.
Responsibilities:
- Provide oneonone support to a student with special educational needs, ensuring their safety, wellbeing, and engagement in educational activities.
- Collaborate with the classroom teacher and other professionals to develop and implement personalized learning plans tailored to the student's needs.
- Support the student in accessing the curriculum, including adapting materials and resources as necessary.
- Assist with personal care tasks, if required, while maintaining dignity and respecting the student's individuality.
- Foster a positive and nurturing environment that encourages the student's social and emotional development.
- Promote independence and the development of key life skills, providing guidance and encouragement as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of the student's progress and communicate effectively with the teacher, parents, and other stakeholders.
- Participate in relevant training and professional development activities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role, particularly with children with special educational needs, is desirable.
- A genuine passion for supporting students with special educational needs and a commitment to inclusive education.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with students, teachers, parents, and other professionals.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to build rapport with students to create a trusting relationship.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students and respond to changing circumstances.
- Knowledge of relevant strategies and techniques for supporting students with special educational needs is an advantage.
- A relevant qualification in education or special educational needs is preferred, but not essential.
