ABOUT THE ROLE


The Growing Space tree nursery initiative, food growing, and environmental activities program utilises green spaces to deliver activities that mitigate climate change and evidence the impact of these activities through measuring carbon footprint reductions.


We will use these activities as an engagement tool that supports a positive model of progression linked to wellbeing, training and employment opportunities that supports adults with Mental ill Health, Autism or a Learning Disability.


Our projects have been specifically designed to offer initiatives that promote real hands-on opportunities to improve physical and mental well-being through working outdoors in nature, re-engage with work in a supported environment and to build sustainable networks of specialist support.

This will be achieved through personal skills development, accreditation and peer support, encouraging participants to support their own health and wellbeing, stay independent whilst gaining and sustaining work skills.

Fe fyddwn yn defnyddio'r gweithgareddau yma fel offer ymgysylltu i gefnogi model positif o symudiad sydd yn gysylltiedig â lles, hyfforddiant a chyfleoedd cyflogaeth sy'n cefnogi oedolion gyda salwch meddwl, awtistiaeth neu anabledd dysgu.

Brief Description


A strong knowledge of working outdoors and developing a variety of training and wellbeing activities that fit in with our participants needs is essential.


  • To contribute to the development and delivery of a Growing Space environmental projects, with the emphasis on supporting individuals wellbeing personal training, volunteering and potential employment opportunities.
  • To support individuals with mental ill health or those at risk of developing mental ill health through isolation or lack of support, to address broad barriers to employment and personal development by providing advice, guidance, and mentoring support on an individual and group work basis.
  • To develop green, sustainable, activities within Growing Space that support and develop wellbeing
  • To manage and look after growing space equipment and tools.
  • To participate in strategic planning issues affecting GS
  • To work to and deliver targets as required by funding contracts and ensure that all records and client inductions are kept up to date and are kept in accordance with the
    Data Protection Act.
  • To liaise closely with members of partner agencies and a number of external organisations in order to identify individuals or groups that may benefit from GS projects and to assess and induct new referrals issued by the main office.
  • To help develop the confidence of vulnerable or disadvantaged individuals in preparation for training and employment opportunities linked to recovery and progression.
  • To contribute to the effective marketing and publicising of Growing Space projects to target individuals or groups who may benefit from them.
  • To attend scheduled training, caseload/staff management meetings.
  • To ensure that all procedures relating to the projects are dealt with in accordance with Growing Space policies and procedures.
  • To take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and other persons who may be affected by your acts and omissions and to comply with health and safety legislation as appropriate.
  • To maintain personal and continual professional development to meet the changing demands of the job and participate in appropriate training activities.
  • To work in the context of equality and pursue inclusive policies and practices and to participate actively in supporting the principles and practice of equality of opportunity as laid down in the Growing Space Equal Opportunities Policy.
  • To work flexible hours as required, to attend and develop fund raising opportunities, networking events or important meetings that will benefit GS.
