Applications are invited for the permanent position of Part Time Youth Worker.


An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part time (7 hours per week) Youth Worker within the West End Youth Club, based in the Youthouse, Moorgreen Road, West End.

Rate of Pay - £10.71 per hour. You will also be entitled to 29 days Holiday, pro rata, which includes bank holidays.


MAIN DUTIES:


  • To work with the Youth & Community Manager to plan and organise a youth programme for young people attending the Youth Club.
  • To ensure the safety and wellbeing of young people/staff/volunteers/colleagues and yourself at all times.
  • To exercise good youth work practice in accordance with child protection policies an Health & Safety Guidelines.
  • To carry out detached youth work when appropriate under the supervision of the Youth & Community Manager.
  • To ensure the Youthouse building is kept tidy.
  • To undertake training courses as discussed and agreed.
  • To carry out other appropriate duties required and requested by the Youth and Community Manager.
  • To be aware of the Council's Health & Safety Policy and to ensure that you take responsibility for your own safety and that of others.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain good relationships with young people
  • Patience, tolerance, and flexibility
  • A sense of adventure and a willingness to try new things
  • The ability to treat young people's concerns with respect, tact, and sensitivity
  • Proven ability to engage young people in decision making processes
  • Ability to operate effectively on own initiative to achieve outcomes
  • Experience of working as part of a team

Essential Skills

  • A commitment to follow safeguarding policies and procedures as appropriate
  • A willingness to undertake any appropriate DBS checks
  • A flexible approach to working with regard to time and place if necessary
