We are recruiting for an Associate to join our Projects, Infrastructure & Construction team (PIC) in Bristol.

This opportunity is ideally suited to an NQ-2PQE Construction Solicitor, who is keen to be involved in a broad range of team matters, encompassing both contentious and non-contentious work.


Our PIC team has expertise across various sectors, including future energy, nuclear, utilities, waste management, heavy engineering, real estate development and infrastructure.

We also benefit from a broad client base, which includes real estate developers, energy and utilities companies, contractors, large sub-contractors and various significant public sector organisations.

PIC has enjoyed significant growth and investment, making it an exciting and rewarding team to be a part of.

The national Legal 500 team (with a presence in Bristol, Manchester, London and Glasgow) comprises approximately 30 people including support and lawyers across all levels of seniority.

Six of the team are partners.


The team maintains a strong and progressive team ethos across our national offices, which encourages collaboration, as well as respect for individuals and their ambition.

Your Role:


As an Association in PIC, you will gain experience in construction and infrastructure projects contract preparation, negotiation, problem solving and dispute management and resolution.

You will contribute to the firm's knowledge and expertise in the Construction sector, and you will be afforded the opportunity to:

  • Develop your skills, knowledge and construction law expertise, in relation to NEC, FIDIC, ICC and other industry forms;
  • Work for high calibre clients on complex procurement projects;
  • Represent clients in adjudication and Technology and Construction Court proceedings;
  • Build relationships with new clients and existing clients of the firm;
  • Develop your skills, knowledge and construction law expertise;
  • Contribute to team strategic planning and business development activities; and
  • Play a real part in the further development of the PIC team.

Your Skills and Experience:


You will be/have:


  • A Qualified Solicitor (SRA or Law Society Registered) NQ2 PQE, with experience in Construction law. This experience will have been gained as either as a seat on your training contract, as qualifying experience as part of your SQE, or as postqualification experience.
  • Experience of JCT and NEC is essential, and experience of FIDIC, MF/1 and other industry forms is desirable
  • A forward thinker, with excellent analytical, communication and organisational skills, you will be selfmotivated with the ability to manage workloads and deadlines
  • Commercially aware with enthusiasm for business development, and an appetite for keeping uptodate with the latest developments in your practice area and sector focus
  • Able to understand your client's business needs, and act in the best interest of the firm and the client
  • An ambitious and enthusiastic team player, able to support senior fee earners and contribute to our collaborative culture.

Your Team:


Our Projects, Infrastructure & Construction team have extensive experience in development and transactional construction projects, as well as expertise in dispute management and resolution.

We have a significant record of advising UK infrastructure projects, in particular in the clean energy and transport sectors including on high value complex disputes.


We work with corporate clients of all sizes - global manufacturers and retailers, major national and regional builders, and commercial land developers are regular clients.

We also work with registered housing associations and public bodies including local authorities, police forces and other governmental departments and agencies.
