A progressive International Manufacturer of Medical Devices has a brand-new opportunity for a Product Design Engineer. Hybrid role**
_The role_


Due to business growth, a new opportunity has become available for a Product Design Engineer to design and develop ground-breaking new medical devices to improve lives.


Working on individual and team-based projects, you will design and develop new products, as well as supporting the continuous improvement of existing products.


_Key responsibilities will include -_

  • Manage, iterate and deliver all stages of Design projects; Discovery/ Empathy, Definition, Ideation, Prototype, Test.
  • Continually develop your understanding and empathy for patients and healthcare professionals, to maintain a genuine usercentric approach to design.
  • Identify root cause problems and help define user needs and project definition.
  • Collaborate effectively in innovation sessions and contribute insightful ideas in support of generating new intellectual property.
  • Supporting the continual improvement of existing products, and identify production efficiency and sustainability improvement opportunities.
  • Creating prototypes throughout the project; all levels of sophistication to suit the purpose and timeframes.
  • Utilise CAD software to create and develop models and drawings of new products to a high standard (BS8888).
  • Effectively identify issues and concerns, and manage risks appropriately (user, design, process, and project risks).
  • Collaborate and work with the Production Readiness team throughout the product launch phase.
  • Work well with multidisciplinary teams whilst embracing our 'Design Thinking' philosophy.

_About you _

To be considered for the opportunity of Product Design Engineer, you will demonstrate the following skills / experience:

  • Educated to Degree level in Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, or similar field
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in similar roles
  • Medical device / design controls experience desirable
  • Experience of detailing & drafting production tools desirable
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Experience with Autodesk Inventor / Solidworks
  • Proactively plan work to ensure deadlines are met and stakeholder expectations are managed
  • Time management and prioritising skills
