GSL Education is currently seeking Graduate SEN Teaching Assistants to work with ASD students at specialist SEN schools in Gateshead.

The schools are dedicated to providing high-quality education and support for children with special educational needs, including those with Autism and SEMH.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of these children, helping them to reach their full potential and achieve their goals.


Responsibilities:


As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support the social and emotional needs of children and young people.
  • Encourage pupil participation in wholeSchool life, including extracurricular activities.
  • Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions, following lesson outcomes planned by the class teacher.
  • Help learners understand lessons and educational activities delivered by the teacher.
  • Assist individual pupils or across a class with other support
  • Ensure a good relationship with parents and colleagues to create a protective environment so that children feel safe.

Requirements:


To be considered for this role, you must:

  • Have a passion for learning and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Have a solid understanding of SEN, mainly Autism and SEMH.
  • Hold a qualification in health and social care, which is preferable.
  • Be empathetic with good listening skills and have good problemsolving abilities.
  • Be willing to assist with basic healthcare practices.
  • Be available for work Monday to Friday
  • Be a graduate
  • ECTs are welcome to apply
  • Be proactive, energetic, kind, and caring
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to go through the process with ourselves)
  • A full checkable work history
