How we work:

Headlands School is based in Penarth, South Wales.

We are a Residential Special School which accommodates children and young people between the ages of 7-19 with including Emotional, Social, Behavioural Difficulties (ESBD), Attachment issues, Autistic Spectrum Disorders and Complex needs.

We are currently going through the process to be the first accredited Attachment Aware School in Wales.

We are looking for people who share our values and commitment to the young people we care for.

You will work as part of an established, helpful and welcoming staff team.


Our residential staff team are committed to providing the best quality of care and support to our young people who live at our homes.


We provide exciting and suitable activities inhouse and within the community, which allows our young people to explore and achieve.

Our rotas run on a shift pattern. 10.30am to 11pm followed by a sleep in duty 7.30am to 12 noon.


Please note a £2000 additional payment will be added to the circa based on 7 over night (sleep in) shifts per month for 10 months being worked.

  • By supporting the young people to reach their potential.
  • By helping to develop the young people's social, emotional and independence skills.
  • By supporting the young people in daily routines such as getting up, getting ready for school and ready for bed
  • By arranging and leading weekend and school holiday activities
  • By supporting the young people with their care needs such as going to doctors, dentist, opticians etc.
  • By providing light meals, doing laundry and light cleaning
  • By offering a safe and secure environment within a family setting

You do not need to have the right experience; you just need to be the right person.

We provide a full package of professional training and if you are successful, you will be joining our highly performing and well-established residential team that make a real difference.
