Statement of expectation for the role:

You will hold a key role within the new National Domestic Corruption Unit which is dedicated to preventing, disrupting and investigating UK based bribery and corruption across business and public sectors.


You will have a can-do attitude and be keen to shape national policing capability and build trust and confidence to support economic wellbeing of the UK.


Description of Department:


The National Domestic Corruption Unit sits within the National Lead Force Directorate of the City of London Police and will be part of the NPCC Portfolio for Economic Crime.

As a National Lead Force unit, the team will contribute to national operational and strategic leadership in the fields of economic crime and will develop working partnerships across policing, law enforcement agencies and wider.


The National Domestic Corruption Unit has been set up to be dynamic and agile to enable it to pivot to respond to present threats, intelligence led opportunities or significant reactive investigations.

'Corruption' is a broad term that can encompass a range of offences including bribery, computer misuse, money laundering, misconduct in a public office and others. Cases can be complex and multi-faceted and involve organised crime groups, ambiguous business relationships, whistle-blowers or vulnerable and intimidated witnesses.


You will be gathering and developing intelligence to facilitate the achievement of crime, interview victims and suspects and plan and conduct investigations and operations in line with policing standards.

Alongside this you will work in partnership with other agencies to prepare, submit and complete cases and prepare evidence and evidential statements for use in court.


Required Skills and Experience

  • Hold a valid UK driving licence and be capable of driving police vehicles to at least a basic standard.
  • PIP2 accredited detective.
  • Strong CPIA knowledge and experience.
  • Strong investigative experience.
  • Experience managing complex cases.
  • Keen, creative, problem solving approach.
  • Willingness to work nationally if required.
  • Willingness to participating in and pass relevant training courses.

Desired Skills and Experience
This is not an exhaustive list, nor should applicants be put off if they do not meet all points.

  • Experience of bribery and corruption or counter corruption investigations.
  • Financial investigator/ confiscator.
  • Experience of illicit finance investigations eg. Fraud, money laundering.
  • Digital/ telecoms/ crypto investigation skills.
  • Experience of proactive and covert investigation.
  • Proactive, intel. Led approach to tackling crime.
  • Major, serious organised crime or counter corruption investigations.
  • Experience using HOLMES.
  • Experience drafting warrants, production orders or authorities
