Hours: 37 hours per week

Salary:
£25,565 - £27,747 pro-rata

Responsibilities include:

  • Being a Learning Coach providing learners with support; guiding students to help them understand their learning styles; utilising coaching processes to enable students to learn more effectively.
  • Providing support for literacy, numeracy, digital skills, ESOL and academic writing at all levels from preentry to HE and professional; guidance on UCAS statement writing; delivering study skills sessions (e.g. academic writing, presentation skills; time management, plagiarism and referencing).
  • Using appropriate support methods in a range of contexts, including
- in-class, appointments and drop-in sessions
- one-to-one, small group and whole class
- face-to-face and online;

  • Liaising with teaching staff to maximize students' development, identify underlying reasons why support is needed and implementing a variety of techniques such as referral, setting targets and building learners' motivation and confidence.
  • Assisting teaching staff in the utilisation of the Wales Essential Skills Toolkit (WEST) to ensure the completion of initial assessments and progression of learners' skills.
  • Recording support accurately in digital formats, tracking learners' progression, developing and updating online resources.

These are contractual agreements that must be in place before your employment can commence.
