About the Role:


Walton Medical Centre are currently looking for a qualified phlebotomist who has experience in taking bloods within either a primary Care or hospital setting.

The hours are between 30 and 37.5 per week.


The purpose of the role is to undertake the delivery of the phlebotomy service in general practice, working with the doctors and nursing team to bring medical services to the patients.


Walton is a warm and friendly seaside town surgery comprising of 2 partners, GPs, ANPs, paramedic, social prescriber, PCN GP care advisor, to name but a few.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and pro-active Phlebotomist to join the team based in Walton Medical Centre.

We are looking for a phlebotomist who has experience of using clinical systems such as SystemOne and EMIS and of entering in patient data into these systems.

You will have knowledge of using the equipment properly and maintain a high level of infection control. You will need to be aware of infection control protocols and knowledge of safely managing equipment.

The Colte Partnership is a GP super-partnership, formed in June 2017. It brought together 9 local GP surgeries across Colchester and Tendring, serving approx. 98,000 patients.

With the combined workforce, skills and knowledge, we are in a unique position to assist our patients across the county.


As well as general practice, we offer extended access appointments to enable all of our patients to access medical care at evening and weekends; we work collaboratively with external agencies to provide in home services and social prescribing; we are working to be at the forefront of clinical research; and have many more exciting ventures on the horizon.

We also work as three collaborative primary care networks (PCN's) which span across Colchester and Tendring:

  • Walton Medical Centre, Colne Medical Centre & Wivenhoe Medical Centre


There is a wide socio-economic and demographic served within this area which will provide an interesting and varied case mix.

You will be joining an enthusiastic team of clinicians and administrators. You will be well supported with on-going professional development (training support, CPD and peer support). The role will contribute to the improving quality of care of our patients across the network of practices.
