The Role


The Wholesale Account Handler is responsible for the day-to-day management of Broker Accounts, working closely with Key Partnership Managers to maximise New Business & Retention opportunities through enhanced service and to meet and exceed customer requirements in line with industry regulations and our internal quality assurance criteria.

The primary functions of the role will include but not be limited to:

  • Negotiating with insurers to secure best available terms both at New Business & Renewal
  • Dealing with broker queries, adjustments and claims
  • Proactively maintaining regular contact with existing brokers
  • Proactively engage with our broking panel to increase awareness
  • Promote facetoface appointments in line with agreed strategy
  • Continually update internal records to ensure relevant information is accurate and kept uptodate
  • The Wholesale Insurance Executive will handle a full range of commercial products from brokers.

  • To fully understand all applicable business processes and procedures relevant to the role.
  • To manage and prioritise your workload effectively in order to meet performance expectations.
  • To use the required systems to arrange and process insurance contracts.
  • To provide insurance products to our customers in a compliant manner in line with our regulations and company procedures.
  • Maintain a consistently high level of quality in all your work in line with company compliance standards.
  • In addition to the knowledge and skills that have been identified for your role, you will also be required to undertake additional duties and tasks if asked to do so by your manager.

Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrate an awareness and compliance with the FCA principles for business including our obligations under Consumer Duty
  • Comply with the Data Protection Regulations both in the office and in communications with clients.
  • Enforce the Anti-Money Laundering procedures whilst dealing with clients.
  • Have a good understanding of complaint handling and company processes and procedures for dealing with them.
  • To comply with the policies and procedures outlined in the employee handbook.
  • To have an excellent understanding of products in your area.
  • To ensure your product knowledge is consistently up to date through continual personal development and the attendance of workshops and training sessions provided.
  • Achieved or working towards the Chartered Institute of Insurers Certificate.
  • To use relevant software packages and required business systems in work production.
  • To have an understanding of Microsoft Outlook.
  • Access, monitor and manage own performance levels through MI.
  • To have or gain an excellent understanding of our regulators.
  • Develop a deep understanding of our compliance criteria.
  • Demonstrate excellent understanding of the role of the FCA in the insurance industry.
  • Complete all annual mandatory learning as set by the company.
  • To provide written communications to company standards.
  • To communicate verbally in a professional and polite manner.
  • Able to listen effectively.
  • Have excellent negotiation skills.
  • A high level of accuracy whilst dealing with sales and enquiries.
  • To ensure all information is input correctly on to Moorhouse computer systems.
  • Provide an exceptional level of service in line with behavioural standards to internal and external customers.
  • Project a polite and professional image to all customers through all types of communications.
