Devonport:
The Engineering Apprenticeship is based at Devonport Royal Dockyard in Plymouth.

Comprising of 14 dry docks, four miles of waterfront and 25 tidal berths, Devonport is the base for numerous surface vessels as well as the base and refit centre for the Trafalgar-class nuclear-powered submarines.
Devonport has also recently been selected as the base port for the Navy's new Type 26 frigates and will become the maintenance centre for the future submarine programme.

Engineering Apprenticeship:
Our engineering apprenticeships cover various trade occupations, one of which you will follow, the options include: Mechanical, Electrical, Fabrication, Welding, CNC machining, Pipefitting and Support Engineer.
Irrespective of the trade route you are assigned to, you will gain the knowledge and skills to understand the importance of health and safety, planning, documentation, general engineering mathematical and scientific principles, methods and techniques.
You will understand the structure, properties and characteristics of commonly used materials, approved diagnostic methods and techniques to overcome problems, the ability to interpret engineering drawings and data and the need to adhere to and continually refine processes and procedures.
Possible placements:
Apprentices will spend their full first year at College, followed by 1 day per week in years 2 and 3 with the other 4 days per week onsite.
All apprentices will work at a variety of locations across the site and will move around to gain an insight into all of the operations we undertake.
Qualifications you'll gain:
You may gain a variety of qualifications throughout your apprenticeship, however the culmination of the apprenticeship is passing the required End Point Assessment, which gains you your nationally recognised apprenticeship certificate as a Level 3 Engineering Technician.
