About the role
Here at Zimmer Biomet Bridgend we have a vacancy available for a Production Supervisor.

This position is responsible for managing the daily activities of defined areas within the manufacturing shop floor.

The position will have responsibility for approximately 30 team members to ensure on a shift by shift basis all requirements of the business are met.

The incumbent will work closely with fellow shop floor area leaders under the guidance of the Shift leader.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities:


  • On a shift basis, has primary accountability for the health and wellbeing of all team members
- within the Manufacturing Area.

  • Expected to work with other members of the Manufacturing Department under the direction of the shift leader to drive world class standards of health & safety.
  • In collaboration with the Shift leaders and members of the Manufacturing Department
- ensures appropriate risk assessments are in place for all equipment and processes.

  • Is responsible for maintaining the expertise of the production team through ensuring assigned
- training is appropriate and completed in a timely manner via iLearn, including continual
- personal assessment and monitoring of performance.

  • Responsible for product quality including but not limited to GDP and process performance by
- reviewing parts and paperwork in real time and assigning the appropriate disposition in line
- with the relevant processes and procedures. As required escalation of any issues within the
- manufacturing team to drive resolution

  • Develops team work and drive accountability throughout all team members.
  • Develops, coaches and mentors team members to ensure the required professional, technical
- and business standards are driven into all team members. The Shop Floor Leader being the critical interface with the operator base


Expected Areas of Competence:


  • Evidence of clear verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to manage and develop individuals and teams.
  • Ability to organise information and resources effectively, prioritising tasks according to their urgency and importance.
  • Competent user of the Microsoft suite of programs and tools, SAP & Kronos
  • Previous management experience of small to medium sized teams, with a record of team building will be advantageous.
  • Experience of real world problem solving to correct issue impacting production performance will be essential.
  • Experience of working with continuous improvement tools and techniques coupled with the above is important these to include 5S, CAPA, RCA, VoE and TPS.
  • Knowledge of engineering principals within a machine shop environment or similar would be advantageous.
  • Experience of audits and the strict regulatory requirements associated with medical device manufacture (e.g. process control, sterile packaging, clean room environment and general GMP procedures are strongly desirable

Education/Experience Requirements:

HND, or other higher level education path, preferably in Engineering is preferred and/or relevant work experience within an engineering environment
