Description

We are really excited to be offering motivated and experienced professionals a unique opportunity to be part of an ongoing pilot in a Band 6 Senior Practitioner role that is jointly funded by NSFT and Children's Social Care.

This role is a new initiative to work with adults who have parental and carer responsibility of children who are receiving support from Children's Social Care, and who require Mental Health support.

This role will be providing Mental Health expertise and clinical oversight within a small and developing team that will include supervisory responsibilities to junior staff and joint working with the children services team manager.

Ongoing assessment, reviewing, triaging and signposting to appropriate support, and providing short-term intervention to parents and carers of children to ensure that those adults receive the right mental health support at the right time to enable them to care for their children.

The assessments and intervention will predominantly take place in family's homes and referrals will come from Social Care workers.

You will work alongside the Intensive and Specialist Support Service which has been developed to support children and families who have an allocated Family Practitioner or Family Assessment and Safeguarding Team Social Worker.

The service is designed to work with families who need specialist or intensive intervention and support to prevent them from escalating from Family Support to Child Protection or becoming Looked After, and to help children return to their family networks where it is safe to do so.

The Intensive and Specialist Support Service is a multi-disciplinary service made up of:
Home Based Support Workers, providing practical parenting support and advice;
Intensive Support Workers, helping complex children and families to change;
Domestic Abuse Workers, providing specialist Domestic Abuse support and advice to children, families and Children's Services staff;
Child and Family Therapeutic Workers, providing therapeutically informed advice and support to children and families.

Dads Matter Facilitators, providing group work intervention and support to fathers.

Substance Misuse (Think Family) workers, providing specialist substance misuse support and interventions to adult parents and carers.

Harmful Sexual Behaviour Team, providing training and support around Harmful Sexual Behaviour
