Our team
Our Sustainability team specialises in helping client organisations to measure, manage and reduce energy consumption, carbon emissions, resource use and achieve wider sustainability aims


Our services include:

  • Delivery of citywide and regionwide decarbonisation programmes
  • Delivery of placebased net zero projects through delivery support.
  • Development and delivery of decarbonisation strategies and delivery plans


We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated professional to fulfil the role of a Principal Consultant in our sustainability team, a friendly and fast-growing team of sustainability consultants that supports clients with their transition to a low-carbon, sustainable future.

Key competencies

  • Experience of leading areawide sustainability and net zero programme and strategy development (e.g. LHEES/LAEP/Heat Network Zoning).
  • Significant practice of working on or leading placebased, large scale and nation/regionwide approaches to decarbonising the built environment for local authorities and/or national government (e.g. delivery of retrofit, heat network projects and programmes).
  • Proven success in service and business development including preparing proposals, bidding and winning work (ideally for placebased decarbonisation projects though not necessary).
  • Expert understanding of the climate change, decarbonisation and heat in buildings policy landscape in Scotland as well as an ability to translate these policies into strategies and programmes that are deliverable.
  • Experience of navigating complex stakeholder relationships to successfully deliver decarbonisation projects.
  • Programme and project management and leadership, including managing budgets and project teams.
  • Commission management including defining scope with the client and quality control of deliverables and outputs.

Qualifications

  • Good understanding of low and zero carbon technologies and strategies to reduce emissions in buildings at an areawide or placebased level (e.g. renewable energy, heat networks, heat pumps and fabric measures)
  • A strong presence and network within the Scottish public sector decarbonisation landscape, demonstrated with history of work with Scottish Government, Scottish Local Authorities and other public sector
  • An understanding of Scottish public sector procurement rules and consulting market landscape;
  • Competent user of data management software (Excel at least but other skills beneficial) and systems for data cleansing, management, analytics, and quality assurance; (desirable)
  • Good commercial awareness including the ability to articulate business decisions within the wider context and market trends our clients are spending £millions and trust us to get the best possible returns for such investment.
